Heaven on Earth

I had wanted to read "The Gospel according to Thomas" for quite a while. I decided that it was finally time. In reading the introduction, I come across the quote that I had first heard from Joseph Campbell.
Saying 113:
"His followers said to him, ‘When will the kingdom come?’ ‘It will not come by watching for it, It will not be said, 'look, here it is,' or 'look there it is,' Rather, the Father's kingdom is spread out upon the earth, and people do not see it.’" (From the Gospels according to Thomas.)
I guess that this is why I don’t have any clients. I needed to receive the inspiration for this article. "The Father's kingdom is spread out upon the Earth, and people do not see it." Intellectually I know that, but still how many times have I heard myself and others say, "When God, when can I be back with you!" or "What do I do to get ‘there’", or "How can I get through this third dimensional world, so I can get to the good part!"
Well guys the "good news" is that the "good part" is here, right now, right around us, we just aren't seeing it! I know that you know that God is all around us, that Spirit is a part of us. But do you KNOW it, do you intimately feel Spirit’s presence? "The Father's kingdom is spread out upon the Earth," and with that remembrance we can begin, today, to make each step we take in Heaven, sacred.
What does it mean to make each step sacred? One thing it means to me is finding Spirit's continual presence in the world, to intimately feel God. We can use all of our senses, not only our inner sight, to know God. Recently I saw my niece smiling as she smelled her shirt. It still smelled like that boy she likes. Oh, come on, we have all done that. If not a shirt than a pillow or a coat! When we use our senses in that way, it instantly brings us back to that place in time when we were together with our beloved. But how often do we smell the air and remember Spirit. Do we smell the ocean and smell God? God gave us our senses, and through them we have another way to honor and know him.
God is not only in nature, but within us. Where ever Spirit is, Heaven is. So Heaven is within us. As a matter of fact, we are Heaven, and when we are conscious of our connection with Spirit and we share ourselves with others, we are spreading Heaven on Earth!
Joseph Campbell tells the story of Lucifer that I retell over and over, It’s origin? I have no idea. Well, I think it might have been the Islamic tradition. I can only say that it feels like truth: God created man and told all the angels that they must bow down and serve His new creation. Lucifer loved God so much that he said no, he would not bow or serve any other than God. So God sent him out from Heaven and down to Earth. So when it is said that Lucifer was sent to Hell, he was sent to Earth to live a life no longer in God’s presence.
Through this parable, we learn that Hell is life on Earth without God, not a place that we go after being judged a bad person. Heaven is life on Earth with God. We are given the gift of free will. We can choose to live in Heaven or Hell. By walking everyday in a "sacred manner", we can remember and commune with Spirit, living in Heaven while we are on Earth. Live with Spirit today, now, no more waiting until we die or we are told we are worthy! We are in Heaven already, it’s time that we allow ourselves to live here.
